For Hesham Abdul Wahab, meeting A.R. Rahman was a moment of pure magic – a moment filled with memories, inspiration, and the realization of his own musical potential.
Hesham shared an emotional note about his meeting with Rahman on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of the two together. The quote reads as follows:
“In 2008 when I went all the way to Chennai to meet Rahman sir for a voice test, I was literally shivering and did not have the courage to click a photo with him, rather I would say I had forgotten about all that when I met him. Years passed by and then in 2014, I met him again to set-up his mobile workstation and even then I could not take a photo.
Years passed by and today, when I got to meet Rahman sir, I felt that 3rd-grade child inside me who sang “Dil Se” on stage. I remembered listening to all the amazing albums by him and how it had inspired the music composer in me.
Today when I finally met A.R. Rahman sir, he shook my hand telling me “Everybody in India is talking about the songs from Hridayam album and that you are doing a wonderful job!”Thank you sir for inspiring me, thank you for making me who I am. God bless you, sir!”
