Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman is returning to the UAE this month for the UAE premiere of his film, One Heart: The A.R. Rahman Concert Film. The music composer and singer will attend a private red-carpet screening of the film on August 29 at Vox Cinemas, Deira City Centre, at 9.30 pm.
Attendance for the screening is invite-only. One Heart will go on general release in the UAE from Wednesday, August 30, with the first show opening at 6 pm to mark Eid Al Adha celebrations.
During his UAE visit, which is organised by Novo Elite Events, Rahman will also attend a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce Sharjah earlier in the day, followed by a tribute event held in his honour at Sahara Centre at 6.30 pm. He will later also attend a fan event, which will be hosted at Vox Cinemas, Deira City Centre between 8-9 pm.
One Heart is a documentary featuring 15 of the most popular songs composed by him. According to the film’s synopsis, it will also feature in-depth interviews with Rahman, along with unseen footage dating back to his early renditions. The musician also features his bond with the artists whom he worked with on his most recent world tour.
The biographical film coincides with Rahman’s 25 years in showbiz, with some of his greatest achievements including winning an Academy Award for Best Original Music Score for 2009’s Slumdog Millionaire. Proceeds from the concert film will go to Rahman’s One Heart foundation, which has been set up to help aged musicians and their families.
