A R Rahman Live Concert in Kozhikode on May 3, 2009

Ace music composer and Oscar winner A R Rahman will be performing live at Kozhikode on May 3 to express solidarity with HIV Positive orphaned children.

The show titled ‘Jai Ho’ is the’first mega music show’ by Rahman after he won two Oscars for’ Slumdog Millionaire’. Over 50 well-known musicians, besides Rahman, will be participating in the event, which is being organised by the NGO Global Kerala initiative’Keraleeyam’ for rehabilitating HIV positive orphaned children.

Rahman said he was happy to be associated with”the cause”. He said he had been wanting to perform in Kerala for the last 15 years.

Though he had cancelled at least seven shows, which were to be held this year in various parts of the country as he would be in the US for at least six months. He however, wanted the Kerala show to be held as it was”irresistible”. Malayalam singers are gifted, dedicated and their foundation very strong, he said.

Rahman said his late father, R K Shekhar, who was composer and music conductor of Malayalam films, gave his soul to malayalam film music. Works of music directors like S Dakshinamoorthy, late Devarajan master, A T Ummer and his father, were the ones he liked.

“I also adore veteran singer K J Jesudas,”he added

The team that had visited the city in February had given an inkling of the kind of show A.R. Rahman Live would be. “We don’t know what Rahman has in mind, this is the first show after the Oscars. He would definitely want to give this show a completely new feel, something that has never been experienced before. He might even have a unique theme for the show. It’s Rahman, anything is possible,’’ Shailesh, who was in charge of production, said.

“Normally, a Rahman show will have ten big singers and 40-odd musicians. However, for this show, we feel it might be bigger. We will get a clear idea after we meet the man himself,’’ he added.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Kindly show the tickets at the entrance for security check

2. The tickets is not transferable

3. The following items will not be allowed in the venue. Glass, Plastic bottles, drugs. Metal Objects, Arms and Ammunition, Cigarette Lighters, Match Box, Camera, Video Cameras or any items

4.Admission is at tickets holders risk, the organizer and the venue will not be responsible for any loss, injury or damages within the premises.

5.The gate open at 4.30 pm.

6. Please be seated as per the given time of the event, no entry will be allowed after 8 pm

7. Person under the influence of alcohol and the drugs will not be admitted, consumption of the same will not be allowed inside the venue

8. Children above 4 years will be permitted only with the admission tickets

9. The counterfoil of the ticket should be produced at any time during the show. Any person failing to do so is liable to be evicted from the venue.

10. Seating is in the basis of price, first come first serve basis.

11. The organizer reserve the right to refuse the admission or reject any person who refuse to be searched by the police officer or security official. The ticket holder agrees that he could be physically checked at the venue by the security personnel.

12. There will be no admission into the venue, before the day of the show.

13. No re entry allowed with this ticket

14. No refund will be granted in the event of cancellation, re scheduling, abandoned or the early finish of the part there of

15. Only a person with the genuine ticket will be allowed into the ground and the stand. any person with a non genuine ticket or the fabricated ticket will be dealt according to the law.

16. No duplicate ticket will be issued in the case of loss of ticket.
