127 HOURS is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (James Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah.

Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued.
Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clemence Poesy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet?
A visceral thrilling story that will take an audience on a never before experienced journey and prove what we can do when we choose life.” From the early buzz it sounds like the movie 127 Hours is going to be a solid and intense drama movie, and most people are confident that the film will shine during the next Awards.
Well, judging from the plot, and considering James Franco’s talent and Danny Boyle’s magic touch, we are pretty sure the movie 127 Hours is going to be a hit.
Boyle had been wanting to make a film about Ralston’s ordeal for four years. Boyle wrote a treatment for the film and Simon Beaufoy wrote the screenplay. News of the World reported in November 2009 that Cillian Murphy was Boyle’s top choice to play Ralston.

It’s official. Oscar-winning music composer A. R. Rahman’s song “Swagatham-Welcome” will be the theme song for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi this October.

Mr. Rahman presented his song to a committee of ministers recently appointed to oversee the progress of the six-billion-dollar Games organization, which has been plagued by delays and accusations of corruption Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy heads the group, which includes Sports Minister M.S. Gill and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, among others.
“The song is about energy, winning and not giving up,” composer Mr. Rahman said at a press conference organized Monday by the Games’ Organizing Committee. “Once you hear it I think you’ll like it.”
Mr. Rahman seemed reluctant at first to reveal much more about the song, saying he was still tweaking the lyrics and that it would be released in 10 days.
But the journalists were persistent. “It’s kind of ‘Waka Waka’?” one journalist asked, referring to the song Colombian pop star Shakira sang for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa this year.
“Exactly no,” said Mr. Rahman. “We wanted to go further and do something else. And doing same thing like ‘Waka Waka’ was not my thing.”

Come Saturday,November 14 2009 and music lovers are in for a star-studded treat. A R Rahman will be in town with an entourage that reads like the who’s-who of Bollywood playback music.

The winner of two Oscars has some great plans up his sleeves, and helping him conjure a magical evening at the Yuba Bharati Krirangan will be some of the country’s best singers Sadhana Sargam, Hariharan, Javed Ali, Rashid Ali, Shweta Pandit and Neeti Mohan, not to mention renowned percussionist Sivamani.
The thousands of Rahman fans who will turn up for the evening are certain to be mesmerized at the concert organised by the Liver Foundation, West Bengal, which will build a liver hospital in the city from the proceeds of the ticket sales. During a trip to Kolkata on October 13, his first to the city since winning the Oscars, the music genius signed guitars which will be auctioned off within a few days.
The revenue so raised, too, will be spent on building the hospital. Most paintings and portraits creations of Liver Foundation vice-president Kalyan Bose that Rahman signed during that visit have been auctioned at a gala dinner.

Farhan Akhtar can’t stop smiling these days. Don’t blame him. He received a call from Oscar winner AR Rahman, who asked him to sing for him for the film Blue.
Caught completely off guard by the call, it took time for Farhan to realize that it was indeed Rahman who was talking to him on the phone.
A source said, “Rahman told Farhan that his voice suits a ‘cool’ number that he wanted him to record for Blue. Farhan, of course, agreed immediately. It was too good an offer to resist. In fact, Farhan and Rahman met two days ago and spoke at length about the song.”
Farhan, who is currently shooting for Kartik Calling Kartik, is looking forward to the recording.
Confirming the news, Farhan said, “I am damn excited about singing for Rahman. I have been a great admirer of his work and have thoroughly enjoyed his music. Our meeting was wonderful. Rahman said that he decided to use my voice for his composition in Blue after he heard the Rock On!! album.
He was extremely soft-spoken and humble and spoke about how the past few months have been a whirlwind ride for him. He also briefed me about the song but I don’t know whether it will be right on my part to reveal anything about it.”

Nothing’s changed about the man. If anything, Allah Rakha Rahman is still the shy and humble person he was before Slumdog Millionaire happened. The only difference is that with two Oscars and a BAFTA and Golden Globe each, the security cover around him has thickened.
And rightfully so. If the crowd reaction in Hyderabad on Saturday night was anything to go by, Rahman needs a barrage of bodyguards.
In town to be part of a ceremony to honour him for his achievements on the world stage, Rahman was a picture of calm and dignity.
India’s very own Pied Piper who enjoys demi-god like adulation from zillions of music buffs across the country and who was instrumental in showing the world that music is not about language seemed overwhelmed with the love and respect shown to him. “I’ve not come here for any gold crown, but for the gold mine (Padmabhushan Dr P Susheela) sitting here right next to me,” said Rahman.
“After I came back from the Oscars, Susheela Amma called and told me that she wanted to organise a ceremony for me. I did not question her about anything. I just told her, ‘you can do any ceremony. Just let me know when to come.’ That’s how much I adore her.”

A.R. Rahman holds the Oscars for best original score and for best original song
It was a remarkable journey from Chennai to Hollywood for music maestro Allah Rakha Rahman who made a billion Indians proud, adding another feather in his cap by bagging two Oscars for his score in “Slumdog Millionaire”.
It was a ‘Jai ho’ for the soft-spoken Rahman, hailed by Time Magazine as the ‘Mozart of Madras’, when he walked to receive the award for Best Original Score and Best Song for ‘Jai Ho’. The ‘Mozart of Madras’, who redefined contemporary Indian music and has been a role model for millions of Indians, has already won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for his music in Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire”.

The 43-year-old music wizard, who has enthralled audience in the country and abroad with his heartwarming symphonies, is creating waves on the international stage with his composition in “Slumdog Millionaire”.
Born as A.S. Dileep Kumar in a musically affluent family in Chennai on 6 January 1966, he changed his name to Allah Rakha Rahman after his family converted to Islam in the late 1980’s.
Rahman was forced to shoulder the responsibilities of his family at the age of nine after his father R.K. Shekhar, who was a composer, arranger and conductor for Malayalam movies, died due to illness. The music genius came to the limelight with his music for a Bombay Dyeing ad and Leo Coffee in 1980’s which became very popular.

Himesh Reshammiya had once said that if he had to sing for any music director other than himself, it would have to be for A R Rahman. Now, Rahman has come up with a composition, which he thinks is apt for Himesh to sing.
Rahman said, “Yes, I have come up with a composition that Himesh can do justice to. It is an important song for a big actor, in a huge project and for a big banner. But since the shooting of this song will happen only next year, it will be wrong on my part to disclose too many details about it at this time.”
I don’t sing for any outside banner (where I don’t act). I would instead request Rahman saab to give music for one of my films where I am the actor and singer – Himesh Reshammiya
So what made Rahman choose Himesh for the song? Rahman said, “Himesh’s voice and the attitude with which Himesh sings is just apt for this composition. I haven’t spoken to Himesh as yet but I will be talking to him very soon.”
When we told Himesh about Rahman’s plans, he said, “I am a great fan of AR Rahman and his music. It’s a great honor for me to sing his composition, but as a policy decision, I only sing for myself onscreen. I don’t sing for any outside banner (where I don’t act).
