It is ‘Jai Ho.. Kozhikode’. The mother of all live shows, A.R. Rahman Live, the maestro’s first live programme after winning double Oscars at the 81st Academy awards, will now be staged not at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium here as was earlier planned, but at the Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode.

The pro gramme has also been postponed from April 14 to May 3. Since April 14 was just two days prior to the polling day in the State, there was a realization that it would have been difficult for the police to provide adequate security cover for the country’s most popular musician. The show is organized by Keraleeyam – Global Kerala Initiative to raise funds for HIV-affected children.

Expectations had reached a crescendo when a two-member team in charge of the technical and production aspects of the Rahman show landed in the city in the middle of February on a one-day recce mission.

The team visited the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, the main stage where Rahman was supposed to perform live. They had inspected the venue, the ground and the natural acoustics and were generally satisfied.

Ace music composer and Oscar winner A R Rahman will be performing live at Kozhikode on May 3 to express solidarity with HIV Positive orphaned children.

The show titled’Jai Ho’ is the’first mega music show’ by Rahman after he won two Oscars for’ Slumdog Millionaire’. Over 50 well-known musicians, besides Rahman, will be participating in the event, which is being organised by the NGO Global Kerala initiative’Keraleeyam’ for rehabilitating HIV positive orphaned children.

Rahman said he was happy to be associated with”the cause”. He said he had been wanting to perform in Kerala for the last 15 years.

Though he had cancelled at least seven shows, which were to be held this year in various parts of the country as he would be in the US for at least six months. He however, wanted the Kerala show to be held as it was”irresistible”. Malayalam singers are gifted, dedicated and their foundation very strong, he said.

Rahman said his late father, R K Shekhar, who was composer and music conductor of Malayalam films, gave his soul to malayalam film music. Works of music directors like S Dakshinamoorthy, late Devarajan master, A T Ummer and his father, were the ones he liked.

Dubai is ready to dance to the rhythmic beatz of the great Ar rahman. Ar rahman is performing live in Dubai on April 18th 2008 at Sharjah International Cricket Stadium

Joining him on April 18,2008 in the Dubai concert would be some of the best talents in India, including Hariharan, Kailesh Kher, Chitra, Karthik, and Jodha Akbar fame Javed Ali. Renowned percussionist Sivamani with Naveen will also add the extravaganza to the show.

This premier musical extravaganza hopes to see over 30,000 people attending.

Sponsored by Eastern Masala, it will host a live show with A. R. Rahman for the third time in the UAE. The event is organised by the Dubai-based leading event organiser Oasis Promotions.

When Rahman conducts the concert in one venue, members of his troupe will entertain the audience in other two stages. 107 musicians including foreigners will arrive. The aim of this different programme is to collect maximum amount of money from a vast audience to help the children.

This is the first music fest Rahman attending after his Oscar achievement . Other than the famous playback singers many famous actors would sing along. The organisers of the fest is Global Kerala Initiative-Keraleeyam. Another Oscar winner Resul Pookuty will also be honoured in the fest.

Also the winners of Oscar award will be honoured by the organisations in the Malayalam film industry jointly.
