A.R. Rahman named Sikkim Tourism’s Brand Ambassador

Famous Indian musician A.R. Rahman has been named as the brand ambassador for Sikkim tourism. Ugen T Gyatso Bhutia, tourism minister, Sikkim on Monday said that the Red Panda Carnival on January 8 will be inaugurated by the Oscar winner and composer at Paljor Stadium. Bhutia also added that Chief Minister Pawan Chamling will declare the ‘Mozart of Madras’ as the brand ambassador for Sikkim tourism.

Chamling said, “We had approached the music maestro who agreed to be the brand ambassador for Sikkim tourism. He will be gracing the inaugural function of the upcoming Red Panda Winter Carnival on January 8. We have also reached an understanding with his team to organize a concert here which will be graced by Rahman and his 50-member crew sometime in February-March next year.”

Sikkimese Nepali film, ‘The Little Visitors or Pahuna’ produced by actor Priyanka Chopra will also be premiered at the function. Similarly, Similarly, the tourism department is making attempts at inviting noted singers like Papon, Jonita Gandhi and others for the carnival. Local bands such as ‘Still Waters’ and ‘Girish and the Chronicles’ as well as the ‘Shillong Chamber Choir’ are also set to perform.
