I always feel good to come back to Dubai – A.R. Rahman

Lovers of Indian music are going to witness a spectacular musical show on January 26 at Bollywood Parks, Dubai, where Oscar and Grammy winning music-composer and singer, A. R. Rahman is going to perform live with his team of talented musicians. The show that promises to be one of its kind will also celebrate Rahman’s 25 years of a scintillating musical journey.

A frequent visitor to Dubai, Rahman was all praise for the city, “I always feel good to be here. Every time I come here I see progress in the city.” Rahman, who has carved his niche in the Indian film industry with his sheer talent and uniqueness, has also been instrumental in putting Indian music on the global map.

While sharing his thought with the Dubai media on Tuesday afternoon, the maestro said, “You have to work hard to find your way. You need to have perseverance, there is nothing called instant success. Instant success never comes.” Rahman has always inspired his fans with his diverse compositions. When asked what inspired him, he said, “My father and mother are my inspiration.”

He added that Indian music composers like, R.D Burman, S. D. Burman, Naushad, Salil Chowdhury have also inspired him, so has Michael Jackson and many others. When asked what keeps him going, he said, “There should be a purpose in life. Money and fame of course should not be, humanity is my soul purpose.”

Recalling his celebrated musical journey, he said, “I am lucky or blessed to have worked with people who have always pushed me to achieve the best. Veteran filmmakers Mani Ratnam, Shankar, Subhash Ghai, Imitaz Ali, and Danny Boyle are the few with whom I have collaborated.” The show, which is also coinciding with the 69th Indian Republic Day, will see Rahman performing his all time-hit patriotic song “Maa Tujhe Salaam,” which is sure to make the audience nostalgic.

Rahman, who has been singing for almost 25 years, has myriad songs in his kitty. When asked how he picks and chooses songs for a concert, he said, “I have tried and tested numbers for my concert.” The concert which will be staged at Concert Arena, Bollywood Parks, Dubai, will have singers like Neeti Mohan, Harshdeep Kaur, Javed Ali, Benny Dayal, Jonita Gandhi, Keba Jeremiah and Haricharan Seshadri.

One of the brightest Bollywood singers, Armaan Malik, will also be sharing the stage for the first time with us, informed Rahman. Talking about the concert, Ninad Shah, Managing Partner, Brothers Incorporated said, “Dubai will also witness the largest stage ever set for a concert in the region. The stage will be 320 feet wide.”

Praising the legend, Rahul Tuljapukar, Managing Partner, Brothers Incorporated said, “If music heals, then he is the best doctor.”
